In “It’s a Deal”, a flashback reveals that popular personality Alastor the Radio Demon was a mass murderer in his human life. Knowing full well he was destined for Hell, he made contact with the afterlife in advance to obtain a strong position there. Rosie, the charismatic leader the cannibal faction in Hell, promised Alastor he would become “the most powerful Condemned Soul in Hell” in return for his eternal spirit.

This prompts an important query: How is Rosie sufficiently strong to raise Alastor over every other Sinner Demons?

“The agreement between Rosie and Alastor is the first stepping stone in a much bigger story that encompasses a great deal, moving into the third season,” the creator states. “Obviously that is a perfect question: How is she so strong? The answer might be various factors, but the answer is in season 3. I'm very excited for fans to see it.”

There’s no telling how long the audience will have to wait for Hazbin Hotel’s next season. The production companies have approved seasons 3 and 4, but the creator often notes that animated production is a slow, lengthy process, and later seasons are undated. Still, she states withholding on those details is a crucial aspect of keeping the second season's focus where it belongs.

“The difficulty of any agreement with infernal beings, or narratives that have enigmas, is giving the audience sufficient clues to be like, Something's up here, and then unveiling that gradually, and allowing that be gratifying,” she says. “So I am quite eager.”

Questions Answered in Season 3

The creator promises that the upcoming season will address the queries fans have been posing, such as why Rosie commanded Alastor to disappear for seven years, which diminished his influence in the infernal realm.

“The entire seven-year span, and the pacts these humans are doing, and everything — it's feeding into a larger story,” she reveals.

In the meantime, the Rosie/Alastor backstory episode offers another glimpse into how the main characters of Demonic Sinners looked like as humans, following after viewing Sir Pentious’ Victorian-era mortal appearance in episode 2. The creator says that a lot of thought went into the visual creation of these forms.

“The human versions of these personas carry so much weight,” she notes. “They range from looking quite distinct from their demon form to seeming very similar. With the first character, the first one we see, there was a little bit of a debate within the team between going with something that represents the character, as opposed to selecting something that's historically correct. We leaned toward creating something that just felt like it was him.”

She says the primary controversy over Pentious’ human design was his long hair: “We were like, ‘No one really had extended hair of that style in that historical period.’ But simultaneously, we think the silhouette is so important, and we also just thought he appeared attractive. We were like, ‘This just feels right.’ We kind of gave the excuse that he's a hermit, so he just allowed his hair to lengthen. So there's always a way. As we create the human versions of these characters […] it's such a fun thing to investigate and figure out. I'm excited for fans to view additional of the appearances of the human versions.”
