Chiefs Confirm Domestic Violence Claims Connected to Player Rashee Rice

The Kansas City Chiefs released a comment Wednesday night indicating they are aware of claims of abuse made public in social media posts by a former girlfriend of player Rashee Rice and were in communication with the league office.

The organization did not mention Rice by name in their announcement and said they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who likewise did not name the athlete by name, shared a series of photos on social media that appeared to show indicators of bodily harm. Jones stated the individual in question was the father of her children, and it is known she has kids with Rice, whom the Chiefs selected in the 2023 draft.

Police Reports Reportedly Unavailable

No official complaints were on file in the Kansas City suburb where the alleged abuse is said to have taken place.

Rice's Prior Legal Issues

Rice was absent for the initial part of this NFL campaign following an NFL suspension for his involvement in causing a multi-vehicle accident on a Dallas highway that left several individuals hurt. Rice was given 30 days in jail and probationary supervision after pleading guilty to felony charges.

Statistically, he concluded the season with 53 receptions for 571 yards and five TDs as the Chiefs went 6-11 and missed the playoffs for the first time in a ten-year span.
