Chalobah Set to Replace Guehi in England Selection

Chelsea defender playing for England

The Chelsea star followed his brother Nathaniel in representing England, becoming the 21st pair of siblings to play for the England side.

The Chelsea defender is expected to link up with the Three Lions selection to fill in for unavailable Crystal Palace centre-back Marc Guehi.

The 26-year-old is set to join the team for England's last World Cup qualifiers against Albania and Serbia, although it has not yet been confirmed.

The England team have already booked their place for the upcoming World Cup.

Chalobah was given his maiden selection under England head coach Thomas Tuchel in May and then earned his first cap against the Senegalese team.

In September, Tuchel stated Chalobah was unlucky to be left out from the squad for qualifiers against Andorra and Serbia, and also omitted him for the subsequent October international break.

Tuchel has been an important figure in Chalobah's development, having given him his Chelsea first appearance in 2021.

Chalobah has appeared in almost every matches for Chelsea this season, with the side third in the Premier League, in the EFL Cup last eight and in the league phase of the European competition.

Guehi sustained a foot injury in Crystal Palace's Europa Conference League victory over the Dutch side recently.

There are expected to be additional inclusions to the selection. Newcastle manager Eddie Howe has announced that both winger Anthony Gordon (hip injury) and shot-stopper Nick Pope (a concussion) are set to pull out from the England setup.
